What is RPL?
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) allows you to gain credit toward your HEA qualification based on:
- Learning from non-accredited training or capability programs
- Prior formal study (from TEQSA-registered or equivalent providers)
- Relevant work experience and professional development
How much credit can I receive?
- Maximum credit varies by program and is determined by HEA’s RPL assessment process
- Credit is granted only where prior learning is equivalent to HEA unit learning outcomes and assessment standards
How do I apply for RPL?
- Submit an RPL application form with your enrolment or after enrolment
- Provide evidence of prior learning (transcripts, certificates, work portfolio, employer references)
- HEA will assess your application and notify you of the outcome
- If RPL is granted, your course structure and fees will be adjusted accordingly
