Accessibility and Equity

HEA is committed to providing an inclusive learning environment that supports equitable access to education for all students.

We aim to ensure that students with disability, health conditions, or mental health support needs are able to participate fully in their studies and engage with campus life. Reasonable adjustments and support arrangements are provided where appropriate to support access to teaching, learning, and assessment.

Support and Reasonable Adjustments

Student Support services coordinate reasonable adjustments and flexible arrangements in consultation with students, with a focus on supporting access to the learning environment.

Support may include adjustments related to:

  • Teaching and learning activities
  • Assessment arrangements
  • Learning resources and technologies
  • Participation in campus-based activities

Students are encouraged to discuss their needs as early as possible to allow appropriate support to be arranged.

Accessible Campus Environment

HEA seeks to ensure that campus facilities are accessible where reasonably practicable.

Accessibility features may include:

  • Lift access to teaching and student areas
  • Ramp access to buildings and common areas
  • Accessible amenities

Confidentiality and Privacy

Information provided by students in relation to accessibility, disability, or health needs is treated as confidential.

Documentation is handled sensitively and is only shared with relevant staff where necessary to support reasonable adjustments, and with the student’s consent, except where required by law.
